When you face calamity get something better

Who, when disaster strikes them, say, "Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return."

[Qur'aan 2:156]

'Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam), said: I heard the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) saying: There is no slave who says, when afflicted with calamity, Indeed we belong to Allah , and indeed to Him we will return, O Allaah reward me for my calamity and give me better than it, except that Allaah rewards him for his calamity and gives him better than it. She ('Umm Salamah) said: When 'Abu Salamah died I said like that which the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) ordered me to, and so Allaah gave me better than him [i.e. better than 'Abu Salamah], [i.e. I was married to] the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam)

Arabic and transliteration of duaa'

إِنَّا لِلَّهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ اللَّهُمَّ أْجُرْنِي فِي مُصِيبَتِي وَأَخْلِفْ لِي خَيْرًا مِنْهَا
