Those who remember Allaah much

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed and Abu Hurairah said that:

‘When a man wakes up at night and wakes his wife, and they pray two Rak’ah, they will be recorded among the men and women who remember Allah much [Al-Dhaakiriin wa Al-Dhaakiraat].”

[Sunan Ibn Maajah Hadith No. 1335]

Ibn Hajar Al-'asqalaani correctly pointed out that there is a difference of opinion regarding if this is the saying of the Companions or a Hadith of the Messenger of Allaa (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam). For the sake of safety, Allaah.org has chosen to attribute it to the Companions as opposed to the Messenger of Allaah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam).

What is the merit of those who remember Allaah much?

Allaah says in the Qur'aan:

Indeed, the Muslim men and Muslim women, the believing men and believing women, the obedient men and obedient women, the truthful men and truthful women, the patient men and patient women, the humble men and humble women, the charitable men and charitable women, the fasting men and fasting women, the men who guard their private parts and the women who do so, and the men who remember Allah often and the women who do so - for them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward.
