They will get their reward twice
They are not [all] the same; among the People of the Scripture is a community standing [in obedience], reciting the verses of Allah during periods of the night and prostrating [in prayer].
Qur'aan Suurah Aaali Imraan Ayah 113
Allaah has mentioned here the characteristics of a group of believers from the People of the scripture that they are steadfast upon the truth, reciting the Ayaat of Allaah during periods of the night, praying, believing in Allaah, and enjoining hat is good and forbidding what is munkar (evil).
In the following Verse He has mentioned that this group recites the Book as is the right of the Book to be recited and believes in Allaah:
Those to whom We have given the Book recite it with its true recital. They [are the ones who] believe in it. And whoever disbelieves in it - it is they who are the losers.
Qur'aan Suurah al-Baqarah Ayah 121
In an another place in the Qur'aan Allaah mentions that this group believes in Allaah and that which has been revealed to us and what has been revealed to them and that they fear Allaah and do not purchase by means of His Ayaat a small price. He says this in the following Ayah of the Qur'aan:
And indeed, among the People of the Scripture are those who believe in Allah and what was revealed to you and what was revealed to them, [being] humbly submissive to Allah. They do not exchange the verses of Allah for a small price. Those will have their reward with their Lord. Indeed, Allah is swift in account.
Qur'aan Aaali Imraan Ayah 199
Allaah mentions in another place in the Qur'aan that this group of the People of the Scripture rejoices at the revelation of the Qur'aan. He says this in the following Ayah of the Qur'aan:
And [the believers among] those to whom We have given the [previous] Scripture rejoice at what has been revealed to you, [O Muhammad], but among the [opposing] factions are those who deny part of it. Say, "I have only been commanded to worship Allah and not associate [anything] with Him. To Him I invite, and to Him is my return."
Qur'aan Suurah al-Ra'd Ayah 13:36
Allaah mentions in another place in the Qur'aan that this group knows that the revelation of the Qur'aan from Allaah is the Haqq. He says this in the following Ayah of the Qur'aan:
[Say], "Then is it other than Allah I should seek as judge while it is He who has revealed to you the Book explained in detail?" And those to whom We [previously] gave the Scripture know that it is sent down from your Lord in truth, so never be among the doubters.
Qur'aan Suurah al-'an'aam Ayah 114
Allaah mentions in another place in the Qur'aan that this group falls on their faces, exalts their Lord, and weeps when the Verses of the Qur'aan are recited to them. He says this in the following Ayaat of the Qur'aan:
Say, "Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration,
And they say, "Exalted is our Lord! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled."
And they fall upon their faces weeping, and the Qur'an increases them in humble submission.
Qur'aan Suurah al-'israa Ayah 107-109
Allaah also says regarding their weeping when they hear the Qur'aan recited the following:
And when they hear what has been revealed to the Messenger, you see their eyes overflowing with tears because of what they have recognized of the truth. They say, "Our Lord, we have believed, so register us among the witnesses.
Qur'aan Suurah al-Maa'idah Ayah 83
And Allaah mentions in another place in the Qur'aan that this group of the People of the Scripture will be given their reward twice. He says this in the following Ayaat of the Qur'aan:
And We have [repeatedly] conveyed to them the Qur'an that they might be reminded.
Those to whom We gave the Scripture before it - they are believers in it.
And when it is recited to them, they say, "We have believed in it; indeed, it is the truth from our Lord. Indeed we were, [even] before it, Muslims [submitting to Allah ]."
Those will be given their reward twice for what they patiently endured and [because] they avert evil through good, and from what We have provided them they spend.
Qur'aan al-Qasas Ayah 51-54
Narrated Abu Burda's father:
The Prophet (sallallaahu alayi wa sallam) said, "Three persons will get their reward twice. (One is) a person who has a slave girl and he educates her properly and teaches her good manners properly (without violence) and then manumits and marries her. Such a person will get a double reward. (Another is) a believer from the people of the scriptures who has been a true believer and then he believes in the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) (Muhammad). Such a person will get a double reward. (The third is) a slave who observes Allah's Rights and Obligations and is sincere to his master."
