Make for us Al-safaa gold

And nothing has prevented Us from sending signs except that the former peoples denied them. And We gave Thamuud the she-camel as a visible sign, but they wronged her. And We send not the signs except as a warning.

[Qur'aan 17:59]

The Quraish said to the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam): Supplicate for us to your Lord that he make Al-Safaa into gold and we will believe in you.

He said: You will do [that]?

They said: Yes

So, he supplicated. Then Jibreel came to him and said: Indeed, your Lord recites upon you Salaam and says: If you wish I will make Al-Safaa gold for them. And whoever disbelieves, from them, after that, I will punish him a punishment I have not punished anyone with in the 'aalamiin.

And if you wish, I will open for them the door of repentance and mercy.

He said: Rather, the door of repentance and mercy.
