Do not let their wealth and children impress you

So let not their wealth or their children impress you. Allah only intends to punish them through them in worldly life and that their souls should depart [at death] while they are disbelievers.

[Qur'aan 9:55]

Allaah told His Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) not to be amazed at the wealth and children of the MunaafiQuun because Allaah only intends to punish them by means of it in this world by making them slave to attain these worldly chattels and then by making them face problems in regards to them.

It has been attributed to al-Hasan al-Basri that he was of the opinion that the Verse means do not be amazed at their wealth and children in this world and Allaah will punish them because of them in the next world. Imaam al-Tabari adopted this opinion. Ibn Kathiir said it was a strong opinion. 

Allaah addressed the Prophet in this Verse but the address is meant for the entire Ummah.
