Do not curse yourselves

"And man supplicates for evil as he supplicates for good, and man is ever hasty."

[Qur'aan 17:11]

When a person gets angry he starts cursing and supplicating evil upon himself, his children, his workers, and wealth depending on the situation. Had his evil supplications been answered as fast as the good ones he makes he would have been destroyed. But Allaah, because of His Grace, does not answer his evil supplications which he makes in anger.

Jabir bin 'Abd Allah reported the Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) as saying:

Do not invoke curse on yourselves, and do not invoke curse on your children, and do not invoke curse on your servants, and do not invoke curse on your property, lest you happen to do it at a time when Allah is asked for something and grants your request.

[Sunan Abi Dawud Hadith No. 1532]
