Dhikr is better than silence

Taqi al-Diin al-Hanbali said:

قال تقي الدين الحنبلي

السكوت بلا قراءة ولا ذكر ولا دعاء ليس عبادة
ولا مأمورا به، بل يفتح باب الوسوسة؛
فالاشتغال بذكر الله أفضل من السكوت

Remaining silent without recitation, dhikr, or
duaa is not worship and nor has it been ordered.
Rather, it opens the doors for devilish whishpers.
Remaining occupied in the dhikr of Allah
is better than remaining silent.
