Allah extends rizq for whom He Wills

Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]. And they rejoice in the worldly life, while the worldly life is not, compared to the Hereafter, except [brief] enjoyment.

Qur'aan Suurah al-Ra'd Ayah 26

al-Mustaurad bin Shaddad (May allah be pleased with him) reported:

The Messenger of Allah (sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam) said, "This world (i.e., its pleasures and duration) in comparison with the Hereafter is (similar to the amount of water) one gets when he puts his finger in the sea. Let him then see what it returns with".

Sahih Muslim

Imam al-Qurtubi writes regarding this Ayah:

فبسط الرزق على الكافر لا يدل على كرامته ، والتقتير على بعض المؤمنين لا يدل على إهانتهم

(Allaah's) Giving the kaafir lots of rizq (provision) does not mean that he has a high status, and restricting the rizq (provision) for some of the believers does not mean that they are of little value.

Ibn Kathir writes:

يذكر تعالى أنه هو الذي يوسع الرزق على من يشاء ، ويقتره على من يشاء ، لما له في ذلك من الحكمة والعدل

Allaah has mentioned that He is the one who extends the rizq for whom He Wills and restricts it for whom He Wills because of what is in that of hikmah (wisdom) and 'adl (justice).
